PhysioNet Support

Beginning in September 2007, primary support from PhysioNet comes from two institutes of the National Institutes of Health (NIH): the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS). We are deeply grateful for the support of NIBIB and NIGMS, which makes PhysioNet's continued growth possible.

We remain grateful for the support provided by the NIH's National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) during most of the prior eight years, which allowed us to establish PhysioNet. These funds, supplemented by generous contributions of data and software by researchers and developers worldwide, have helped us to make PhysioNet the unique resource it is today.

There is no charge for access to PhysioNet, and we want this to continue. Open access to data and software helps not only students and researchers with little or no means to pay for that access, but also the rest of the research community, who benefit from the intensive examination given these materials by many highly motivated investigators around the world.

Additional funding from members of the PhysioNet Consortium has helped to provide continuity and continues to support collaborative projects. If PhysioNet has been supporting your company's needs for data, software, or both, please encourage your company to support PhysioNet by becoming a member of the PhysioNet Consortium.
